One Owner 1960 Fender Telecaster From Fountain Hills

This 1960 Fender Telecaster came to us in Fountain Hills, Arizona, from its original owner. He played it often throughout its life. These days he reaches primarily for an acoustic guitar, and he did not want the Telecaster sitting untouched. He wanted it back in the hands of a player.

One Owner From New

When a guitar stays with one person this long, its condition reads differently. The wear is not a mystery assembled from decades of dealers and collectors. It came from the same hands returning to the same instrument year after year.

He played it often, and the Telecaster shows it. The blonde finish has softened with age. The back carries broad areas of wear, the edges are chipped and rubbed, and the metal parts have lost their shine. None of that needs to be dressed up. It is direct evidence that this guitar did what it was built to do.

The Wear Tells the Story

The photographs show the places a player touches without thinking about it: the lower edge of the body, the back against a shirt or belt, the control plate and selector, and the neck worn smooth by years of chords and lead lines.

The marks are individual, but together they tell one consistent story. This was a working guitar.

He wanted the guitar played.

The guitar came with its brown hardshell case, its red interior carrying signs of age. The bridge cover is pictured with the instrument, and the scale read 6.58 pounds during our photo session. Those details help record the guitar as it arrived, but the strongest piece of provenance is the photograph of the owner holding it again.

Ready for the Next Player

By the time we met him in Fountain Hills, electric guitar was no longer the center of his playing. He had moved primarily to acoustic. Letting the Telecaster go was a practical decision. He wanted the guitar played.

A one owner guitar can easily be treated as an artifact and put away. This one arrived with a simpler purpose: keep it moving. Whoever owns it next will be stepping into a guitar that has already been played for more than six decades.
