The FIRST Firebird Ever Made – Gibson Firebird VII 1963 – Sunburst – One Owner!

$38,000.00

Out of stock

Joe’s Vintage Guitars is proud to present this fantastic piece of Gibson history! This is not only the first guitar put out by Gibson in 1963, but it is the first Gibson Firebird ever made! It bears the serial number ‘144381’ – the very first serial number from 1963! Not only did Gibson only produce 20 of these VIIs in 63′, this is the first one ever made! In addition, this is a one owner instrument that is completely original and overall in very nice vintage shape! The guitar comes with its original hard case that is in excellent shape as well, but is missing one latch.

On top of being an investment grade collectible, this Firebird is a fantastic player! It has a straight neck with a very responsive and smooth truss rod. There is some medium fret wear in the lower register, but it plays very nicely with low action and no buzz. It is missing one tuner bushing but luckily, they are not too hard to source thanks to the tuners being used by many 60s Gibson banjos. I decided not to source a bushing and rather to list this as found under the original owners bed! (with new strings and a pro setup of course!) There are a few cracks in the pickguard around the screws, typical of this era firebird.

So, just to recap!

-Original finish

-Original pickups & electronics

-Original case (missing one latch, works perfectly well)

-Original frets

-One owner

-THE FIRST FIREBIRD EVER MADE

-Missing one tuner bushing

-A few pickguard cracks (see photos)

Feel free to ask any questions and thank you for considering this heirloom quality collectible golden era Gibson. Truly a piece of history you can hold in your hands! Have a great day!
