Nearing 30 years old, this instrument has aged beautifully and remains in exceptional, near-mint condition. It was clearly handled with care and shows only the lightest signs of its limited use.

This model was built to commemorate Taylor’s achievements, and it represents a highly respected chapter in their history. With Taylor approaching its 50th anniversary, these 20th Anniversary instruments have taken on a truly collectible status.

Construction & Look:
The XX-RS is the spruce-and-rosewood version of the two 20th Anniversary guitars (the other being the mahogany/cedar XX-MC). Both guitars share the same Grand Auditorium body proportions, ornamentation, and overall structure, but the tonewoods give them distinct voices.

The design blends elegance and craftsmanship beautifully. Nearly everything you see — aside from the hardware and inlays — is wood, giving it a cohesive, natural visual appeal. The fingerboard is solid ebony, and between the 13th and 18th frets sits an ornate inlay reminiscent of early 20th-century instruments. At the 17th fret, you’ll find the Roman numerals “XX” executed in 18-karat gold, marking Taylor’s 20th anniversary.

With its deep rosewood body and straight-grained spruce top, this XX-RS has a tasteful and traditional aesthetic.

Tone & Feel:
This Grand Auditorium body size offers a sweet spot between the larger dreadnought and the smaller grand concert — comfortable to hold, expressive, and intimate. The tonal profile leans balanced and articulate rather than boomy, with plenty of shimmer in the treble and excellent clarity overall.
